Women’s Filed Hockey Scholarships

There are over 300 USA universities who play women’s field hockey in the NCAA. Most of these colleges are situated on the East Coast and Midwest regions of the USA. Women’s Hockey is experiencing exponential growth in popularity, and we are seeing top level university teams spreading across the nation.

Most Division 1 (D1) college teams have 12 full Scholarships while Division 2 (D2) colleges are only allowed to have 6 per team. Division 3 (D3) teams do not give hockey scholarships, but will offer academic scholarships for top achieving hockey players.

The majority of scholarships awarded will only cover a portion of the fees; but with good grades and top SAT scores, you can combine your academic and hockey scholarships to make college free.

Title IX aims to balance men and women’s participation in sport. The average number of players in an American football team is well over 100 men. Due to the large number of male athletes, a few exclusively women’s sports were created to correct gender inequality. Women’s hockey happens to be one of these “Women Only” sport
